Haryana Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Dr Banwari Lal on Wednesday said that the government is actively considering to run electric vehicles in the state. The Minister said that the central government has been emphasising the use of electric vehicles in the country and in this direction the state government is also considering to run electric vehicles in the state as this option would reduce air pollution and as compare to petrol and diesel, it would be affordable.

He said that the state government has a plan to replace 1.5 lakh electricity based pumps with solar power pumps. The scheme would have a provision to sell the unused excess power to power utilities when there would be no requirement of irrigation.

The state government is promoting off-grid solar power plants in rural areas. It has decided to install off-grid solar power plants in 110 Primary Health Centres, 110 Community Health Centres and 9,500 Anganwadi Centres this year, he added.
