The students of government schools in Haryana will get purified drinking water from next year as the Manohar Lal Khattar dispensation has decided to install reverse osmosis systems on all school premises of the state.
Initially, this facility would be made available in urban schools from the next year and later on, it would be further extended to schools in rural areas also, an official spokesperson said today.
“A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here today to review the progress of centrally sponsored schemes,” he said, adding Finance minister, Capt. Abhimanyu and Minister of State for Public Health Engineering, Dr Banwari Lal were also present.
Apart from this, the government is also planning to install solar panels on the roof-top of government schools.
The solar energy thus produced would be utilised to run computers.
While reviewing the schemes, Khattar stressed on the need to increase the state’s revenue rather than depending on debts from other sources.
He also directed the officials to constitute a committee under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary, comprising officers from the Finance Department as its members, to find ways to curtail wasteful expenditure and to bring down revenue expenditure.
The Chief Minister directed that all the administrative secretaries to prepare realistic proposals of various schemes before sending it to the Project Approval Board so that the funds may be released by the centre at the earliest.
He also directed them that the budget under the centrally sponsored scheme should be fully utilised so that development works does not get hamper, the spokesman said.
Khattar also directed to make provision of separate budget for the implementation of ambitious ‘Maha Gram Yojna’ to provide sewerage facility in 126 villages having population of more than 10,000.
He said that the state government was in the process of setting up a ‘Smart Gram Authority’ and the “Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) would also be linked with it.
