As the Fisker Ocean SUV is gearing up to make its debut at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show, Henrik Fisker, Chairman and CEO, Fisker Inc has shared a video showing the interior of the SUV. The Fisker Ocean is targeted to enter production at the end of 2021, with the first deliveries planned for 2022.

The Ocean SUV gets a clean design for the dashboard with two digital screens, one for the instrument panel and one for the centre console.

Below the centre console is another small horizontal screen for controls and cup holders. Being the “world’s most sustainable vehicle”, Ocean SUV will get a ‘vegan’ interior with the carpet produced from recycled nylon that is sourced from abandoned fishing line pulled from the oceans and other aquatic habitats; eco-suede materials recycled from recycled polyester and other recycled plastics and rubber repurposed from tire manufacturing waste.

The party piece of the Fisker Ocean is the ‘California’ Mode. Pressing the button moves nine different body panels – three windows on each side of the SUV, the rear hatch’s glass into the body, and the two panels that make up the solar roof shift – to open at once. The roof of the SUV is planted with solar cells that can offer up to 1,000 miles of range per year.

Reservations have already started for Fisker Ocean at $250. The electric SUV is priced $37,499 in the U.S. and will cost $29,999 after the U.S. federal tax credit is applied. Customers can also lease the Ocean starting at $379 per month with $2,999 down before delivery in 2022, which includes both initiation and activation fees. The company has secured a global and localized supply chain which includes critical components such as batteries. This will result in global manufacturing capacity across the United States, Europe and China with projected production of more than 1 million vehicles between 2022 and 2027. The all-electric luxury SUV is built on a complete, fully-engineered platform that will underpin two additional Fisker models, details of which will be revealed later this year.

Fisker Ocean Side View
Fisker Ocean is expected to be powered by an 80 kWh battery offering a range of up to 480 km and the car can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in about three seconds. Fast-charging option will be available and the customers can choose to buy two-wheel drive or all-wheel drive variants.

Another innovative feature on the Fisker Ocean is the maintenance. Fisker customers need not take their vehicles to the service stations, as Fisker reps will pick up and return cars when maintenance is needed, or a service is requested – signalled by the onboard system or via the mobile app.

On the Indian launch, the Ocean will be released here, likely in the lower-spec, by mid-decade, with the company looking at CKD manufacturing.
