New Delhi: A gradual shift to Electric Vehicles from ICEs is observed owing to environmental consciousness and economic reasons among car buyers. The pollution levels remain a concern, and collective efforts among sections of society, can help control the related pollution.

The move to EV is most visible among MG owners. MG Motor India offers the most value-for-money electric vehicle – MG ZS EV, based on the global popular platform from their home country, the UK that has a certified range of 419 Kms in one full-charge, the longest range offered compared to any EV in India.

The ZS EV continues to attract customers’ interest in India as MG averages 700 bookings per month. Another customer, Deepak Singh from Mumbai has upgraded from Hector 2019 to ZS EV in 2021. The customer had acquired the Hector in 2019 for an ex-showroom price of Rs. 16.78 lac and sold it for Rs. 14 lac. Thus, realising a resale value of 83% after retention of 29 Months. Apart from the loyal MG customers making the shift to ZS EVs, owners of other brands are also seeing value in exchanging their ICEs with MG ZS EV. Seema Rawal from Rohini New Delhi, a customer of Jeep wanted to move to an EV. She decided to exchange her Jeep for the ZS EV.

Deteriorating Air-Quality

The automotive industry is going through a transition to alternative and less energy-intensive options of mobility, in a bid to reduce the environmental impact. The issue is, High levels of pollution and Climate Change. The existing city pollution e.g., Mumbai’s air category to turned poor, according to the ‘System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research’ (SAFAR). Mumbai’s Air Quality Index points at the ‘poor’ category, which remained so over the weekend. The overall AQI of Mumbai was over 220 µgm-3.

Similarly, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) pointed at 53 in the ‘satisfactory’ category today, as per SAFAR data.
