Indore airport to get its own solar power plant

A 100 KW power solar power plant will be installed at the Indore’s Devi Ahilyabai Holkar airport. Airport Authority of India (AAI) has received bids for supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the project which will be completed in four months.

“Photovoltaic power stations occupy at least one hectare for each megawatt of rated output. So we require a substantial land area; which is subject to planning approval and the related time, cost and conditions. Many approvals will also apply conditions on the treatment of the site after the station has been decommissioned in the future,” said Indore Airport Director, RN Shinde.

The earnest money deposit for the bid had been kept at Rs 2 lakh.

After the solar power plant installation, the Indore airport will move towards improving facilities for passengers and increasing cargo transport.

AAI plans to keep the airport open 24 hours from April next year.

“We have also sought 28 acres of land close to the airport for its expansion and hoped the agreement in this regard will be given final shape this month,” he said.
