Infrastructure works of Rs 3,000 crore to come up at Dholera SIR

Infrastructure work worth Rs 3,000 crore will come up at Dholera Special Investment Region, a top government official said here on Saturday. Of these, contracts for works worth Rs 2,800 crore have already been given. Basic infrastructure will be ready by September 2019. Gujarat government will hard sell the SIR during the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2019 to held on January 18-20.

Talking to media persons in Dholera, Jaiprakash Shivhare, managing director of Dholera Industrial City Development Ltd (DICDL), said that infrastructure projects worth Rs 3,000 crore will come up at Activation Area, spread over 22 square kilometre area. Of these contracts worth Rs 2,800 crore have already been awarded, said Shivhare.

Projects for wastewater treatment, water drainage, sewage treatment will be a part of it. “Basic infrastructure will be ready by September 2019. Anyone who wants to set up a project will be able to park their money here. We will be able to allocate land in two days,” said Shivhare. No land will be acquired for SIR. Instead the route of Town Planning (TP) schemes will be taken, wherein a part of land from local farmers will be kept reserved for development projects and public amenities.

State power utility Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has also floated tenders for Solar Park with a capacity to produce 5,000 MW. Close to ten companies have responded to a tender floated by GUVNL. Shivhare said that electricity generated will be very cheap as a Transmission and Distribution (T&D) losses will be minimal.

Dholera industrial city is a greenfield project coming up over 920 square kilometres. It is a part of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC). It is conceptualized as a plug-and-play infrastructure that includes road, water, telecom, electricity, piped natural gas, solid waste collection and disposal, six-lane road and other associated infrastructure.
