Japanese petroleum company Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (TYO:5019), through its subsidiary RS Renewables Co Ltd, put on stream in early April a 58-MW photovoltaic (PV) park in Okayama prefecture.

The SF Akaiwa Solar Power Plant uses copper indium diselenide (CIS) thin-film solar modules by Idemitsu unit Solar Frontier Co Ltd. The latter is also in charge of operations and maintenance (O&M) at Akaiwa Solar.

The solar farm in the town of Akaiwa has an expected annual generation of around 65 million kWh, which is equivalent to the yearly power consumption of about 13,000 local homes.
