Japan’s Shizen Energy reaches COD on 35-MWp PV plant in Vietnam

Japanese renewable energy firm Shizen Energy Inc announced today that its 35-MWp Hau Giang solar power plant in of Vietnam reached commercial operation date (COD).

The plant’s output, estimated at about 51 million kWh per year, is sold to state-owned power company Vietnam Electricity (EVN).

The Japanese group, through its affiliate Shizen Malaysia Sdn Bhd, invested in the Hau Giang project and worked on the construction with local urban and infrastructure developer and investor Halcom Vietnam JSC.

The 33-hectare (81.5 acres) solar farm is located in Hung Hiep district, Hau Giang province.

The Hau Giang plant is the first project for Shizen Energy in the Southeast Asian country and the second time it worked with Halcom.

Since its establishment in 2011, Shizen Energy had a hand in around 1 GW of renewable energy projects in Japan,
