Mangalore Coop Town Bank installs 15 KW solar rooftop power plant

The Mangalore Cooperative Town Bank Ltd, on the verge of its centenary, has gone green. It has taken the initiative of promoting renewable energy sources by installing a 15-kW solar rooftop power plant making it the first bank in cooperative sector in Mangalore taluk to install this power plant. Former deputy speaker of State Legislative Assembly N Yogish Bhat formally inaugurated this plant commissioned on July 5, on Wednesday.
The plant has been installed a total cost of Rs 12 lakh and generates 1,800 units per month and 21,600 units per year thus saving the bank nearly Rs 1.55-lakh per year. The payback period of this plant is nearly five years and the bank ends up with net savings of Rs 1.55-lakh for the next 20-years. The plant also saves 4.32-kgs of carbon dioxide for 25 years and contributes towards a green environment and clean energy, Nakul Pai, president of the bank, said.
M/s Solar Trade Links installed and commissioned the solar rooftop power plant. A unit of Kumble Group, the company has installed more than 40 solar rooftop power plant with combined capacity of 400kw under the leadership of CEO Kumble Vignesh Prabhu. A 25-kW solar plant at DCs office, 15-kW plant at Vidyadayini School at Iddya, Surathkal and a 50-kW plant at Mangala Cashews are some of the prestigious installations carried out by M/s Solar Trade Links.
