The Ministry has been implementing a scheme on Small Wind Energy and Hybrid Systems since 9th plan. The scheme has been revised from time to time in order to make it more effective. Under the scheme, financial support is provided for installation of wind mills for pumping water or battery charging and wind–solar hybrid systems for off-grid applications. As on August, 2016, total 2.79 MW of capacity has been added under the scheme. The scheme provides CFA of Rs. 1.00 lakh per kW of installed capacity of the SWES to the community users only. Further there is a provision of higher CFA for installation & commissioning of total 25 nos. of SWES systems up to 10kW capacity under demonstration mode in NE states & J & K.
