Under the National Biogas and Manure Management Programme (NBMMP) on an average annual target of 1.12 lakh family type biogas plants has been allocated to be achieved by the State Nodal Departments/Agencies and KVIC and BDTCs. About 3.58 Lakh family type Biogas Plants have already been set up during the first 4 years 2012-13 to 2015-16 of the 12th plan. For the remaining year, 2016-17 the work is being executed with a target of 1,00,000 family type biogas plants. It is most likely that target of 1.00 lakh such plants would be achieved during the current year.
