Tender secured 11 valid bids from wind and solar developers representing 739MW of combined capacity

The Serbian government has selected successful bids for its first renewable energy auction.

The tender attracted 16 offers from wind and solar developers representing a combined capacity of 816MW, out of which 11 were declared valid, with a combined capacity of 739MW.

In the wind auction, the quota of 400MW was achieved by four projects, including one submitted by Enlight.

In the solar tender, the 50MW quota was not reached, but support contracts were awarded to three developments.

The projects will be supported through a contract for difference for 15 years.

The auction has been held following a technical cooperation project with the Ministry of Mining and Energy, led by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and supported by the government of Switzerland via a grant from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs.

The lowest prices offered for wind were €64.48/MWh and €88.65/MWh for solar.

The interested companies submitted bank guarantees and cash deposits worth more than €18m, which guarantees their intention to implement the projects.

These results are preliminary and will be confirmed within the next one to two weeks.

The next auction is expected to take place next year with a quota of 300MW.
