Sonnedix buys 14-MW solar farm in Japan from X-Elio

October 15 : Independent power producer (IPP) Sonnedix Power Holdings Ltd, through its Japanese unit, has finalised the acquisition of a 14-MW solar farm in the Yamaguchi prefecture, Japan.

Sonnedix Japan K.K. bought the plant from X-Elio, a Spain-based global solar developer run 50/50 by KKR & Co Inc (NYSE:KKR) and Brookfield Renewable Partners LP (TSE:BEP.UN).

Built in the city of Mine, the solar photovoltaic (PV) farm started commercial operation in June 2020.

The latest addition takes Sonnedix Japan’s operational capacity to 196 MW. The company also has more than 338 MW of projects in different stages of construction and development in the country.

X-Elio’s Japanese portfolio includes 377 MW, divided between 200 MW in operation and 177 MW under construction or development, according to a joint statement.
