Suzlon powers Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s maiden wind project

Suzlon Group, one of the leading renewable energy solutions providers in the world, announced the completion and commissioning of the 4.20 MW maiden wind project for Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). The wind energy project, located at Nakhatrana, Kutch comprises of 2 units of Suzlon’s newest product variant, S97 120 meter hybrid tower wind turbine. It will help in offsetting 9,000 tonnes CO2 emissions annually.

S97 120 meter is the world’s tallest all-steel hybrid tower which ensures 12% – 15% higher energy yield and further enables viability of sub-optimal wind sites. It achieved best in industry class Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 35% for a period of 12 months from the launch in November 2014 and was also incidentally, inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Smt. Anandiben Patel.

Shri Mukesh Kumar, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), said, “The investment in wind energy is part of AMC’s long term focus on sustainable development and harnessing green energy is one step towards that. Renewable energy is one area where even at a Municipal level we can show global leadership and where we all can play our small part in helping to mitigate climate change challenges. We are glad that this project is dedicated to the Nation by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Smt Anandiben Patel and is aligned to the Renewable Energy Mission initiated by our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendrabhai Modi.”
