Agartala: Tripura is testing the feasibility of setting up grid-connected solar rooftop power plants on government buildings.
The Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (Treda) has been asked to carry out a feasibility check on the project, which is expected to collectively generate 5MW of power, a senior official said on Saturday.
Treda is the state nodal agency for implementing new and renewable energy projects.
The agency has already installed 1.275MW off-grid solar photovoltaic power plant of various capacities under the Union ministry of new and renewable energy and state-funded projects.
These were all off-grid decentralised programmes, which were discontinued from March last year.
