In Short : Zelestra has inaugurated its 435 MWp Gorbea solar plant in Rajasthan, marking full-scale operations in under eight months. Union MNRE Minister Pralhad Joshi praised the project as a model for clean energy. With a 25-year SECI PPA, the plant will power 128,000 homes annually and offset 705,000 tons of CO₂, reinforcing Zelestra’s renewable growth in India.

In Detail : Zelestra has announced the full commissioning of its 435 MWp Gorbea solar power plant in Rajasthan, celebrating the milestone with a formal ceremony attended by Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi. The inauguration marked the completion of one of the fastest-built large-scale solar projects in India, completed in under eight months.

The Gorbea solar plant spans approximately 1,250 acres and utilizes high-efficiency TOPCon bifacial solar modules. The facility is equipped with more than 1,300 robotic cleaning units to ensure optimal performance and minimal water usage, reflecting a strong focus on sustainable operations.

This project is backed by a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), ensuring long-term clean energy supply. It is expected to generate 755 GWh of electricity annually, which is enough to power over 128,000 homes across the country.

By displacing fossil fuel-based generation, the plant will help avoid nearly 705,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. This supports India’s larger decarbonization goals under its National Solar Mission and contributes to its renewable energy capacity expansion.

The Union Minister praised the project as a model initiative under the government’s Harit Kranti (Green Revolution) vision. He highlighted Rajasthan’s leadership in renewable energy, noting that the state contributes nearly 70% of its power capacity from green sources.

The Gorbea project also played a role in community upliftment. Over 800 jobs were created during construction, and many farmers became stakeholders by leasing their land, thus creating a long-term revenue stream and deeper rural engagement in India’s energy transition.

Zelestra stated that the Gorbea project is part of its broader India strategy, which includes a 5.4 GW renewable pipeline. Of this, 1.7 GW has already been contracted, showcasing the company’s rapid scaling in India’s clean energy market.

Globally, Zelestra manages more than 29 GW of carbon-free capacity across 13 countries. The company also recently secured an increase in its sustainability-linked loan to €770 million, which will support further investments in clean energy infrastructure worldwide.
