Hyderabad: Former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu, MP has said that global lifestyle changes are required to combat climate change.
Delivering the inaugural address (virtual) of a three-day Green Power 2020 organised by Renewable Energy Council of CII-Godrej Green Business Centre, Mr Prabhu said, “Green energy is important forthe economy, environment as well as social and personal well-being. We need to change the energy mix of the world so as to provide cleaner cities.
This would also result in cobenefits like job opportunities,” he said.
In his special address, Mr Dinesh Jagdale, Joint Secretary, MNRE said, “Government of India is taking concerted efforts for meeting the 175 GW renewable energy target by 2022 and subsequently 450 GW target by 2030”.
He also emphasised the importance of domestic manufacturing of solar modules and wind turbine generators for meeting national renewable energy targets.
