German PV pioneer presents storage innovations at the Energy Storage Europe
Neckarsulm: A hybrid inverter is the link between solar PV system and batteries in order to use self-generated solar energy as effectively as possible. KACO new energy is now launching its first hybrid inverter onto the market and is offering it together with the battery and mains disconnector as a system from a single source. KACO new energy will be exhibiting at Energy Storage Europe in Düsseldorf from March 12 to 14.
KACO new energy presents its hybrid inverter for the first time at a trade fair in Germany at the Energy Storage Europe in Düsseldorf. With the acquisition of the storage provider Energy Depot last autumn, the German PV pioneer secured the market-ready technology. The inverter is now available as blueplanet hybrid 10.0 TL3. It is aimed at operators of residential and small commercial solar PV systems who want to combine the advantages of solar energy with power storage.
Efficient use of solar energy
The blueplanet hybrid 10.0 TL3 is the control center of the solar-powered energy storage system: It provides connections for battery, PV system and public power grid. Several batteries can be connected to the hybrid inverter – even as a retrofit. In this way, it can always be adapted to the energy demand. The new hybrid inverter provides three-phase grid feeding and compensates for fluctuations in consumption within 100 milliseconds. When it feeds electricity into the grid, it achieves an efficiency of 98 percent, and a high 97 percent when charging and discharging the batteries. In addition, the inverter has excellent partial load characteristics.
From inverter to storage system
KACO new energy offers the blueplanet hybrid 10.0 TL3 together with battery and mains disconnector as a complete package under the name blueplanet hy-store. It is the only storage system on the market that can also set up a three-phase stand-alone grid with a full ten kilowatts of power. The next development stage envisages automatic island switching to enable reliable emergency power operation. This functionality is to be implemented by a software update.
The blueplanet hybrid 10.0 TL3 has an integrated energy management system. It enables the reliable compensation of consumers and the limitation of the maximum grid feed-in. These functions can be extended with the OpenEMS developed by Fenecon GmbH. This allows various functions to be implemented for monitoring or for controlling other components.

About KACO new energy
KACO new energy, headquartered in Neckarsulm, Germany is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of inverters for grid-feed solar power. The product line-up covers the full power range, from single units designed for a family home up to complete systems for solar parks producing megawatts of electricity. Since 1999, KACO new energy has supplied inverters with a cumulative power output of 13 gigawatts. This offering has been extended to include solutions for PV self-consumption and energy storage, devices for grid management, as well as products and value-added services for utility-scale projects. KACO new energy is the first company in the photovoltaic industry to achieve CO2-neutral production. In 2014, the family-owned company celebrated the 100th birthday of the original parent company which, at the end of the 1930s, was one of first ever inverter manufacturers.
