Lithos Energy Announces Newest Generation of Battery Pack Technology

SAN FRANCISCO: Lithos Energy today announced the newest generation of high-voltage liquid-cooled battery packs that offer improved energy density, safety and can be rapidly scaled to high-volume production. Lithos Gen4 technology is a leap forward for battery pack capability and is now included in the latest Lithos high-voltage battery packs. The newest packs will be showcased at The Battery Show this week in Novi, Michigan.

“Lithos Gen4 Technology is a breakthrough for the electric vehicle and industrial high-voltage battery market,” said James Meredith, co-president of Lithos Energy. “We have combined the best attributes from projects across multiple industries to offer significant improvements in both energy and power density, in a product that is rapidly scalable to high-volume production.”

Lithos Gen4 Technology is ideal for many applications including autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles, robotics and marine applications that require greater energy or power density. The technology offers significant improvements including a 23 percent increase in specific energy compared with previous generations.

Safety and reliability have also been improved with the new technology. The advanced design is passively propagation resistant to prevent thermal runaway and a redesigned liquid cooling system to improve thermal consistency throughout the battery pack, extending operating life. Copper interconnects, along with improved thermal management, provide for longer peak-current pulse times with less voltage sag, resulting in better vehicle performance. Taken together, these advances allow Lithos High Voltage battery packs to operate in the most demanding applications with a longer service life.

“We are very excited about this technology and what it means for the industry,” said Meredith. “A safe, energy-dense, scalable solution is now on offer, off-the-shelf, to power the next generation of electric vehicles.”

The new technology is now in use on the Lithos High Voltage product line and is available in four standard form factors, with variants for high energy and high power. All Lithos Energy battery packs are designed and assembled in the company’s California facility.

Lithos high-voltage battery packs will be on display at The Battery Show & Critical Power Expo in Novi, Michigan from Sept 11 through Sept 13 at the Suburban Showplace Collective.
