PUNE: Minister of State for civil aviation Jayant Sinha posed three sets of challenges that businesses and research agencies could surmount in the next few years. He wondered if India’s huge motorcycle population could be run on electricity instead of petrol. “Tesla has done that in the US, we can build an entire ecosystem of electric vehicles in India…We can have solar panel in every house and vehicles can be charged through energy produced through those panels. The battery technology is ready now, so we can do it here in India,” Sinha said, while addressing a lecture series organised by the Pune International Centre.
