(New York, 19 May 2017) The world’s leading eco-development solutions provider, Panda Green Energy Group Limited (“Panda Green Energy”, stock code: 00686.HK, formerly known as United Photovoltaics Group Limited) was invited to a special event on Boosting South-South Cooperation Through Philanthropy organized by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC). Dr. Jerry Li, General Manager of Overseas Business Department of Panda Green Energy, delivered a keynote speech titled “Panda Power Plants Helping the United Nations South-South Cooperation Program”.
Dr. Li said that as a leading global eco-development solutions provider, Panda Green Energy is committed to providing green energy comprehensive solutions including wind power, solar power, hydropower, and energy storage to developing countries along “Belt and Road” routes. At the recent “Belt and Road” Forum for International Cooperation, the United Nations and the Chinese government have officially signed the Action Plan on Jointly Promoting “Belt and Road” Construction, in which Panda Power Plant will be the key landing project. So far Panda Green Energy has reached strategic cooperation agreement with the Republic of Fiji, the Republic of the Philippines and other developing countries to jointly promote landing of the Panda Power Plant project in developing countries.
Mr. Jorge Chediek, the UNOSSC Director and Envoy of the Secretary-General on South-South Cooperation said the “Belt and Road” initiative has become a model for South-South Cooperation. By further strengthening the cooperation of the developing countries, it will bring along the national economic development and infrastructure construction of “Belt and Road” countries, disseminating friendship and prosperity. At the same time, South-South Cooperation is of great significance to the global response to climate change and the achievement of the United Nations sustainable development goals. The United Nations hopes that the Panda Power Plants will soon land in South-South Cooperation countries and become a demonstration project for South-South Cooperation.
In September last year, China’s state leader attended the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations and said that as one of the developing countries, China lays the firm foundation for foreign relations by the unity and cooperation with developing countries. China will also share the opportunities with the developing countries. At the recent “Belt and Road” Forum for International Cooperation, China announced that it would raise US$ 1 billion to the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund and carry out a number of assistant projects.
In the future, Panda Green Energy will continue to build good strategic partnerships with South-South Cooperation countries. It will promote the concept of clean energy and green development around the world through Panda Power Plants, influence the developing countries to improve their construction capacity to deal with climate change, provide more impetus for the South-South Cooperation, and eventually realize the United Nations’ sustainable development goals.
