Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik recently in a letter urged Prime Minister Narenda Modi to facilitate early establishment of the National Institute of New Energy and Innovation (NINEI) in the state capital here.

“I request you to take up early construction of the NINEI at Bhubaneswar by allocating necessary funds for the purpose so as to enable the institute to start its activities at the earliest,” Patnaik wrote.

Stating that the government of Odisha has been taking several initiatives in accordance with the National Development Goals for Renewable Energy, Patnaik said he had earlier also taken up the matter with the Prime Minister.

Patnaik noted in the letter that the state government has already allocated 73.680 acres of land free of cost in Bhubaneswar for the proposed National Institute of New Energy and Innovation, a national institute to be established by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

“We are also committed to provide the necessary infrastructure support for the landmark project,” Patnaik said in the letter.
