With a view to reduce the daily power consumption, the AP Pollution Control Board-Kakinada regional office on Saturday launched 50 KW rooftop solar power system worth `40 lakh at their new office building constructed recently at a cost of `3 crore. Inaugurating the rooftop solar power system, Deputy Chief Minister N Chinna Rajappa appealed to the people to go for solar, air and hydro power for their daily needs rather than using the conventional power resources, to reduce pollution and protect the environment.

PCB joint chief environment engineer B Madhusudan Rao explained the salient features of the rooftop solar project and informed that the PCB office will save nearly 50 KW power, which will be channelised to the AP EPDCL grid. East Godavari district collector H Arun Kumar said that the district administration is planning to set up rooftop solar power system in all the government offices, for the offices will soon adopt the e-office system.

NEDCAP district manager G Satyanarayana explained the benefits of solar rooftop scheme and appealed to the public to utilise the government scheme. Kakinada Rural MLA P Anatalakshmi, ZP chairman N Rambabu, APIIC manager Nageswara Rao, District Industrial Centre manager AV Patel and PCB environment engineer D Ravindra Babu were present.
