Plouton Mining announces its aims to build what will be the largest solar-powered mining operation in North America, providing people with an opportunity to participate in the growing bitcoin economy in a sustainable and affordable way.
The process of bitcoin mining is energy-intensive, requiring massive amounts of electricity produced by carbon-emitting fossil fuels and delivered on outdated and aging power grids. Plouton Mining will help solve this issue with plans to construct a solar-powered facility located on pristine land, wholly owned by parent company Plouton Group, in Western Mojave, CA. Solar panels will occupy approximately 49 of the 50 acres and will generate 10-13 Megawatts of electricity approximately 330 days annually, operating on average 12 hours per day.
Western Mojave, CA is one of the most ideal locations for a solar-powered facility on the planet. The region is basked in sunlight 70% of the year. Plouton Mining will contract with local utility providers to allow for ultra-cheap operating costs when the sun goes down. This model also benefits the local utility providers who are left with an excess supply during much of the nighttime hours when demand is at a low. As a result, Plouton Mining will enjoy the lowest all-in energy costs possible.
