The solar rooftop project will produce 10.6 GWh of clean energy annually.

UAE-based distributed solar energy provider SirajPower has signed a solar partnership with Al Shirawi Group, an industrial conglomerate with operations across the GCC.

The partnership begins with a 7 MWp solar rooftop installation for Emirates Printing Press in three of their plants. Emirates Printing Press operates press facilities at Dubai Industrial City (DIC) and Al Quoz.

The solar rooftop project covers an area of 56,000 m2 and will produce 10.6 GWh of clean energy annually, which SirajPower says will offset more than 7,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions.

“We want to continue growing our core businesses more sustainably while contributing to UAE’s green economy,” said Mohamed Al Shirawi, chairman of Al Shirawi Group of Companies.

“SirajPower’s impressive track record of successfully working with reputable UAE conglomerates from various industries such as Al Ghurair, Mir Hashem Khoory Group (MHK), Bin Dasmal Group, and Airlink International UAE played a key role in our decision,” he added.

The Al Shirawi agreement is the latest solar project by SirajPower, which doubled its solar assets in 2020, achieving a 100 MWp distributed solar portfolio.

In November of last year, Al Ghurair Group selected SirajPower to design, construct, operate, and maintain a 1.8 MWp solar rooftop plant at its Gulf Extrusions’ facility located at Jebel Ali in Dubai. The project covers 4,500 solar panels that will annually generate 3 GWh of clean energy.

“The current momentum from these important established companies gives a strong message to the market as it showcases the private sector’s commitment to achieving national priorities,” said Mohammed Abdulghaffar Hussain, chairman of SirajPower. “Together with our existing and new partners, we want to support our country in its next phase of development where clean energy plays a central role.”
