Solar Philippines Biga Corporation is planning to build in Batangas a giant power complex combining 2 GWp of solar power capacity, 6 GWp of energy storage and a 600-MW diesel backup plant.

The company recently filed a public scoping report for the Batangas 3 Solar Baseload Plant, which it expects to be able to complete by 2024. The feasibility study for the project was launched in August 2020. The project timeline in the report shows construction is anticipated to commence near the end of 2022.

Solar Philippines has secured a Solar Service Energy Contract from the Department of Energy giving it exclusive right to explore, develop and utilise the solar resource. It has purchased and secured land for the project in the municipality of Nasugbu.
