About our team:
The RVCE Solar Car Team – RVSCT, is a completely student-run organisation that designs and builds Solar Electric Vehicles. It consists of 20 highly dedicated undergrad students, committed to tackling the rising global energy crisis, envisioning the world with sustainable transportation. The project is interdisciplinary, with students from engineering backgrounds including Mechanical, Electrical, Computer science, Chemical and Aerospace engineering. The team was established in September 2013.
The main objective of our team is to promote the use of solar energy in the transportation sector and drive research and innovation into solar technology. We design, build and race highly efficient solar cars, in Solar Challenges held across the globe. We also conduct various events that apprise the cause to school students and local communities. We take pride in making note that we were the only team from India to take part in the World Solar Challenge 2015.
To turn this dream into a reality, we need support from corporate and industries – financial, technical and in kind. We have successfully built one of India’s most advanced solar EV in our previous cycle. We garnered support from the likes of Mr Narayana Murthy, co-founder of Infosys and Mr Chetan Maini, founder of Mahindra Reva who had personally guided us on various aspects. We also had the support of various companies such as Infosys, Wipro, Schneider Electric, HHV Solar, TCS, Sunedison and many more. Please look into our website (hyperlink attached) for detailed information regarding our previous cycle. Also, PFA a brochure about the team.
We have had tremendous advancements in this cycle. We have approached the world’s leading companies for support with technologies related to our project and have successfully collaborated with them. Some notable ones include:
Wipro is our Core sponsor, guiding us in our vision towards sustainability.
Sunpower sponsored us their high efficiency solar cells (22.4%).
IBM is supporting our team with their cloud technologies and is also our Core Sponsor.
Honeywell, Robert Bosch and Schneider Electric are supporting us with their superior technical services in the Electronics and sensors domain.
Mitsubishi Rayon Co Ltd. is has sponsored us high grade carbon fiber to make the body of the car. Rhinokore Composite solutions has provided us with their core material for the composite sandwich structure.
Microsoft is helping us with the modelling of parameters in the telemetry subsystem.
We have had many more collaborations such as Recom, Elcom, Swelect, Innominds, Dynamatics, Elg carbon fiber Ltd. for technical and financial assistance.
We are also, in talks with various companies like ABB, Weir Group, and more.
