AP CM meets OCI Company CEO in Seoul

Vijayawada, Dec 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is on a visit to South Korea, met OCI Company CEO and President Woohyun Lee in Seoul on Wednesday.
An official release here said the OCI Company is a Seoul-based trading company engaged in import, export, supply of chemical products and raw materials.
The OCI company gave a power point presentation on their present activities, capacity and their interests in India to Mr Naidu.

The President of OCI told the Chief Minister that he had visited India and participated in last year’s Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam. Since then, he has been following the progress of Andhra Pradesh, and is impressed with their non-conventional renewable energy and solar energy policy. Executive Vice Presidents Kimoo Keo, Sungjoon Kim and JaeWook Baek, Team Manager were also present in the meeting.

The Chief Minister also met Soon Kwon, President of LG Electronics and proposed a collaboration in the manufacturing of energy storage systems and display systems like LED and OLED screens.

The President said that they have not set up a full-fledged manufacturing unit outside Korea, and enquired about the competitive advantage in Andhra Pradesh over other states. The Chief Minister told him that AP is ranked number one in Ease of Doing Business, and also spoke about Kia Motors’ experience.

“Even Foxconn left Tamil Nadu and came to AP, and now employs 13,000 people in the state”, he said. Mr Naidu briefed about the double digit growth rate, and the state’s high ranking in India. The President of LG Electronics said they can look at battery storage and electronics.
He was invited to visit AP and see the ecosystem created.

Mr. Kwon said that it is unusual to see a government leader speak with such technological awareness, and he will consider exploring opportunities in AP, the release stated….
