The Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ola Electric has deferred the window for placing new orders for its electric scooters to Dec 16, 2021.

Launched on August 15, the two electric scooter ranges of Ola Electric, S1 and S1 Pro were earlier scheduled for the second round of purchase window for placing new orders, starting November 1.

However, due to delays witnessed in providing test rides and production of the e-scooters, Ola Electric has announced to push back the purchase window for new orders to December 16. It has also ensured to reach out to customers who pre-booked their e-scooters in September and schedule their test rides.

On September 15th and 16th, the EV maker opened bookings priced at Rs 499 for its two electric scooters, which received over Rs 1,100 crore worth of bookings in only two days.

The ex-showroom prices for Ola S1 and Ola S1 Pro have been been priced at Rs 1 lakh and 1.3 lakh, respectively.

“We’ve received unprecedented demand for our Ola S1 and S1 Pro scooters and are currently busy fulfilling existing orders!”, stated the company.

In order to reduce wait time between purchase, delivery and fulfilling existing orders, Ola Electric has decided to defer the upcoming window for new purchases to December 16.

Given the growing bubble for electric vehicles in the Indian auto sector, Tata Motors (NS:TAMO) has announced plans to launch 10 new electric vehicles over the next four years, for which it will invest up to $2 billion or Rs 15,000 crore in its EV segment over the upcoming 4-5 years.
