In Short : NTPC has awarded a contract for 1.58 GW of solar modules to Emmvee and Vikram Solar. This contract is a significant step towards expanding NTPC’s renewable energy portfolio and enhancing India’s solar energy capacity.

In Detail : NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL) has announced the winners of its auction for the supply of 1.58 GW of crystalline solar bifacial modules, each with a minimum output of 540 Wp, for projects totaling 1,255 MW at Khavda Solar Park in Kutch district of Gujarat. The auction, initiated in September 2023, witnessed Emmvee, Vikram Solar, and ReNew and emerged as successful bidders.

Emmvee secured two blocks, each with a capacity of 397.70 MW, with a total of 795.4 MW. Meanwhile, Vikram Solar won a block with a capacity of 397.70 MW, and ReNew received the final block of 391.50 MW. All modules will be provided under the domestic content requirement (DCR) category.

The winning bidders is expected to supply the modules within 245 days of receiving the award notification. Emmvee will supply its TOPCon bifacial PV modules for the project. Bidders were allowed to quote supply capacities as: Block-1 (391.50 MW), Block-2 (397.70 MW), Block-3 (397.70 MW), and Block-4 (397.70 MW).
