Volvo teases Polestar 2 electric car with new picture ahead of unveiling
Volvo is again teasing the Polestar 2, its first all-electric car, with yet another a new picture ahead of the unveiling planned for later this month.
When Volvo rebranded Polestar two years ago, it was off to a somewhat awkward but interesting start as it unveiled its first vehicle, the Polestar 1.
The car turned out to be a highly expensive plug-in hybrid, which quickly sounded outdated when the automaker announced that they would bring an all-electric “Tesla Model 3 competitor” to production a year later.
The company is talking about making only electric vehicles going forward:
“From the release of the Polestar 2, we’re going all-electric and we’re never going back.”
Over the past two months, the automaker has been releasing images and details of the vehicle ahead of the unveiling.
Today, they released a new image of the rear-end of the Polestar 2:
It adds to several other teaser images of the inside and the outside of the vehicle gradually released in recent weeks:
With the release of the first image of the Polestar 2, the company also shared some specs for the upcoming vehicle:
- First full BEV from Polestar and the Volvo Car Group
- ~300 miles of range (all final specs to be announced shortly)
- ~400 HP (all final specs to be announced shortly)
- Four-door “fastback” body type
- World debut of the new Google Android HMI, which in turn is also the debut of the in-car version of Google Assistant
- Will be sold in the Tesla Model 3 price range
- Available on subscription, which will be a slightly more premium version of our sister brand’s Care by Volvo package, although we will honor/take cash sales
The Polestar 2 will make its global debut on Wednesday, February 27, at 7:00 a.m. EST (4:00 a.m. PST) at Polestar’s global headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden.
It will be broadcasted live on Youtube and the vehicle will make its first public appearance at the Geneva International Motor Show a week later.
