Solar power plant at Thalakulathur to be commissioned next month

Transport Minister A K Saseendran said that the solar power plant at Thalakulathur will be commissioned in the second week of March. The minister said that the trial run of the solar power plant constructed by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) will be commenced on February 22 onwards.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday after inspecting the construction site and conducting review meeting with the officials on the work progress of the solar power project, minister said project envisaged under Renewable Purchase Obligation(RPO) project set up on a 3.76 acres of land.

“A total of 2630 solar panels were installed on the project site. The plant, now constructed with a 650-kilowatt capacity, will supply power through Koduvally and West Hill sub stations,” said A K Saseendran. The minister also informed that the government is also planning to expand the existing project by constructing additional 350 kilowatt solar power plant on the site in case gets required land. The minister said the road situated adjacent to the project site will be renovated using Rs 25 lakh from the MLA fund.
