Swedish State Secretary to the Minister for EU Affairs and Trade Oscar Stenström held a meeting with a key Moroccan official for boosting energy cooperation between the countries.

Stenström met Mustapha Bakkoury, Chairman of MASEN (Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy) board, in the capital on Thursday.
Stenström said that bilateral cooperation is expected to bear fruit in the medium and long terms since Morocco has a clear energy strategy with well-defined objectives.

He also hailed the Kingdom’s objective of increasing the share of renewable energies to 42 per cent by 2020 and to 52 per cent by 2030.

“This strategy is in line with the Paris climate agreement and is also economically beneficial, Stenström added.
