Washington, D.C.: In the opening plenary session today during the National Hydropower Association’s Waterpower Week, Gregory Wetstone, President and CEO of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), delivered the following remarks:

“As a nation, we are at a turning point. Renewable power is now cleaner, safer and more affordable than any other form of electricity. It is no longer a matter of whether we get to a renewable energy economy; it’s a question of when. Across the political spectrum, poll after poll shows strong public support for these clean energy technologies. The onus is now on America’s policymakers to answer the public’s call for carbon-free electricity.”

On Thursday, ACORE will be joined by leading renewable energy and energy storage organizations in a briefing to Capitol Hill staff members on the key policy reforms and market drivers necessary to accelerate the transition to America’s renewable energy future.

Speakers include:

  • Gregory Wetstone, President and CEO, American Council on Renewable Energy
  • Erin Duncan, Vice President of Congressional Affairs, Solar Energy Industries Association
  • Jason Burwen, Vice President, Policy, Energy Storage Association
  • Scott Sklar, President, The Stella Group, Ltd & Adj. Prof & Dir. of GWU’s Environment & Energy Mgmt Institute
