Bangladesh sufferer of global warming: Bangladesh President

New Delhi: Bangladesh has suffered the most due to global warming, Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid said here on Sunday and lauded the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron in giving the global leadership for launching of the International Solar Alliance here.

Speaking at the plenary session of the founding conference of the ISA, a treaty-based international body for promotion of solar energy in coordination among 121 countries, Mr Hamid said his country has already started developing “renewable energy” with much fanfare and seriousness.

“Bangladesh is putting up best efforts,” in this endeavour, he said adding, “we are also taking steps to reduce solar emission”.

He said Bangladesh government believes that development of renewable energy was not only vital for development, but it is also important for safety of the planet.

He mentioned that it is in this context, the government of the day in Dhaka has provided five million solar panels at homes and thereby serving the interest of 20 million people.
